Claycomb Posts Top-10 Finish at the Fighting Irish Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cooper Claycomb of the University of Louisville men's golf team posted a top 10 finish to lead the Cardinals to a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the Fighting Irish Classic in South Bend, Ind.
The Cardinals finished at 7-over-par after shooting rounds of 287-270-290=847 to place 14 shots behind tournament champion UCLA. North Carolina was second and Notre Dame closed in third place.
Claycomb posted his second consecutive top 10 finish after he was a fifth-place finisher at the Blessings Collegiate Classic last week. At the Fighting Irish Classic, the junior posted a 1-under-par 209 over the two days, shooting rounds of 73-64- 72 to register his fourth finish in the top 20 this year.
Brady Smith tied for 12th place with his score of 1-over-par 211, carding rounds of 68-67=76.
Easton Johnson and Andrew Tan each shot a 6-over-par 216 to finish in a tie for 35th while Warren Thomis moved up 13 spots on Tuesday to finish in 39th after his final round score of 71.
The Cards close out the fall season on Oct. 19-21 at the Williams Cup.
