Cards Set to Face a Pair of ACC Opponents

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team will resume Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend when the Cardinals play host to No. 3 Virginia Friday at 3 p.m. The Cards will then travel to Newton, Mass. to take on Boston College Sunday at 12 p.m.

• Louisville enters Friday's matchup with a 7-7 overall record and a 1-4 mark in ACC play following 3-1 win over then-No. 19 California Friday at Trager Stadium. The game against third-ranked Virginia will mark Louisville's fourth straight against a ranked opponent.
• UVA stands third in the league while the Cardinals and the Eagles are eighth and ninth respectively.
• Rylie Wollerton leads the team with nine goals and four assists for 22 points this season.

• Head coach Justine Sowry recently collected her 250th career win in the 6-0 victory over Bellarmine (Oct. 7).
• Senior Izzy Bianco was selected to the 2025 Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey Team. The midfielder is coming off of a solid junior campaign which culminated in National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-West Region honors.
• Bianco, Masters and Wollerton were named to the 2025 NFHCA Collegiate Watch List
• The 2025 Louisville field hockey co-captains are Bianco, senior midfielder Chloe Cuzzupe and
senior back Tatum Kroon
• Louisville was picked to finish eighth in the ACC preseason coaches poll.
• Louisville's Trager Stadium will serve as the host site for the 2025 ACC Championship. The Cardinals last hosted the event in 2017 when they advanced to the title game.
• Justine Sowry is in her 15th season at the helm. During her tenure, Sowry has guided the Cardinals to nine NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the quarterfinals in three of the last six years and reaching the semifinals in 2020.

Scouting the Cavaliers: Third ranked Virginia enters Friday's game with a record of 11-1 overall and a 5-1 conference record, good for third in league standings. The only loss for the Cavaliers this season was a 1-0 loss to the then-third-ranked North Carolina. The Cavaliers are coming off a 5-0 shutout of William and Mary on Sunday.
· Virginia has defeated seven ranked opponents this season and have a perfect 5-0-0 record on the road this year
· The leader on offense for Virginia is junior Mia Abello with 12 points (5G, 2A)
· Suze Leemans, Catalina Quinteros, and Emma Watchilla have scored three goals each for the Cavaliers attack

Scouting the Eagles: The Boston College Eagles enter the weekend with a 5-9 overall record and a conference record of 0-6. prior to a Friday matchup with Syracuse. The Eagles are coming off an 8-2 win over New Hampshire.
· The Eagles leading scorer on offense is freshman Alex De Cain with 10 points (4G, 2A)
· Melea Weber is tied with De Cain for the team lead in goals with 4
· Goalkeepers Charlotte Kramer and Carine Van Wiechen have split minutes for the Eagles this year and combined for a goals against average of 1.43 and a save percentage of 0.687
