Cardinals Open Season with EKU Doubleheader

UofL starts its 2025 season with two home matches against EKU
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team opens its season at home on Wednesday with a doubleheader against EKU with matches scheduled for 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The pair of matches are just two of the Cardinals' 18 at home this season.

Louisville will enter the season with a spring roster that features eight returners. The team is led by two-time doubles All-American Natan Rodrigues who was ranked as high as 109 in the ITA Singles poll during the 2024 spring season. Will Mayew, who earned ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors on February 27, 2024 will return in 2025 alongside fellow junior Andre' Steinbach. The sophomore class of Miguel Avendaño, Russell Lokko, Kosuke Nakanishi, Enrique Peña and Piet Steveker will all be returning for their second year with the Cards.

Additionally, the Cards are bringing in three newcomers including VCU transfer Hamza El Amine who helped the Rams win their seventh straight A10 Championship in 2024. Aleksander Andrin and Adrien Ducruet are the lone freshmen to join Louisville's 11-man roster.

Scouting the Colonels: EKU opened their season on Monday with a doubleheader against Ole Miss, dropping match one 0-4 and match two 1-4. Last season, the Colonels went 20-10 and ended their season with a 2-4 loss against Pacific in the UTR Sports NIT Tournament.
