
Cards Ready for US Olympic Trials

Trey Allen, Joe Delgado, Soledad Jean, Gabriela Leon, Brion Stephens, and Jayden Ulrich will all vie for spots on Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field program will be well-represented at the 2024 United States Track & Field Olympic Team Trials with six athletes who have competed in the Cardinal uniform set to compete in a total of six events.
The Trials will take place from Jun. 21-30 in Eugene, Ore. at Hayward Field as athletes from all over the nation will vie for a chance to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games later this summer.

Of the six student-athletes representing the Cardinals at the Trials, five will be making their Olympic Trials debut. Three of the athletes are set to return to Louisville for the 2024-25 season while the other three are alumni of the Louisville track & field program.
Fresh off a pair of top-five national finishes at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Jayden Ulrich will contest both the women's shot put and women's discus throw in Eugene. The junior enters the competition with personal-best and program-record marks of 18.66m (61-2.75) and 64.29m (210-11) in the discus.
The men's high jump will feature a pair of All-Americans in Trey Allen and Brion Stephens, with Stephens entering with a personal-best mark of 2.23m (7-3.75) and Allen holding a seed mark of 2.22m (7-3.25).
The Cards will also be represented in the women's high jump as Soledad Jean punched her ticket to the Trials with her personal-best performance of 1.84m (6-0.5) at the NCAA East Regionals in late May.
Gabriela Leon, the 2022 NCAA outdoor national champion and Louisville program-record holder in the women's pole vault, will contest the women's pole vault for PUMA while boasting a seed mark of 4.70m (15-5).
Joe Delgado, a 2018 graduate of the University of Louisville, will compete in the decathlon for the Jacksonville Athletic Club with a seed mark of 7,994 points. The Louisville school-record holder in the decathlon will be making his second appearance at the Trials after placing fifth in the event in 2021.
