LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams are set to take part in the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 9-11 at Georgia Tech's George C. Griffin Track in Atlanta, Ga.
This will be the ninth time the Cardinals have taken part in the ACC Outdoor Championships since joining the conference prior to the 2014-15 season. Entering the competition, the Louisville women are ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA ACC Rating Index, while the men's squad currently stands 10th.
At the ACC Indoor Championships in March, the women finished ninth with a total of 34 points while the men placed seventh with 48 points.
The three-day event will begin on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. with the women's hammer throw, with the first track events of the weekend for Louisville athletes set for a 7:45 p.m. start with the preliminaries of the women's 1500m.
Portions of the meet from each of the three days of competition will be streamed live on ACCNX. The streaming schedule can be found below.
The top-three finishers in each individual event and the top relay team will earn All-ACC First Team distinction, while the athletes who finish fourth through sixth in each individual event and the second and third place relay team will be honored as Second Team All-ACC.
Entering the weekend, Brion Stephens leads the conference in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.23m (7-3.75) at the Texas Relays, while Jayden Ulrich holds the best marks in the ACC in both the women's shot put (18.27m) and women's discus throw (64.29m), with the latter standing as a conference record.
Along with Stephens and Ulrich's conference-leading marks, the Cardinals boast 13 athletes who currently hold top-six marks in the ACC heading into the championship meet.
Last season, Trey Allen captured his first outdoor conference championship in the men's high jump, with the senior standing as one of four All-ACC honorees from a year ago set to compete for the Cards, a list which also includes Grigoris Nikolaou (men's triple jump), Stephens (men's high jump), and Jeremiah Willis (men's long jump).
