May 10, 2024 | Track & Field
Natalie Lark also finished on the podium with a runner-up finish in the women’s pole vault.
ATLANTA, Ga. – Jayden Ulrich won the ACC title in the women's shot put by nearly a full meter as the University of Louisville track & field teams concluded the second day of action at the ACC Outdoor Championships on Friday.
Ulrich, who currently holds the sixth-best mark in the NCAA this season, posted a throw of 17.95m (58-10.75) on her second attempt of the competition to capture the top spot and sweep the ACC crowns in the event after winning gold at the ACC Indoor Championships in February.
The junior will look to become the second Cardinal in program history to win two different events at the same ACC Outdoor Championships tomorrow afternoon, when she competes in the women's discus throw at 2:00 p.m.
Natalie Lark also earned a spot on the podium, finishing as the runner-up in the women's pole vault with a new personal-best clearance of 4.27m (14-0). The mark moves the senior into the top-20 in the event nationally while also marking the fifth straight year a Louisville athlete has placed in the top three in the women's pole vault at the outdoor conference championship meet.
A pair of freshman earned Second Team All-ACC distinction as Lucy Fellows placed fourth in the women's heptathlon and Iliana Triantafyllou claimed fifth place in the women's pole vault.
Fellows closed out her freshman campaign by accumulating a total of 5,307 points to set a new personal-best, while also setting new personal-bests in the 200m, shot put, and javelin throw.
Triantafyllou, who tied the Louisville freshman record in the women's pole vault two weeks ago, cleared a final bar of 4.07m (13-4.5) to take home some hardware in her first postseason appearance for the Cardinals after joining the program in January.
Freshman Dominic Lowe also finished his rookie campaign on a high note, placing ninth in the decathlon with a total of 6,286 points to move up to No. 6 in program history after setting new personal-best marks in five of the ten events.
On the track, Rylee Penn made her season debut in the women's 800m, clocking a time of 2:08.11 that stands as the second-fastest in school history while narrowly missing a berth to the finals.
Heading into the final day of competition, the women's squad stands fourth in the team standings with 29 points while the men's team holds the 11th-place spot. Saturday's competition will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the men's high jump and women's discus throw.
