Gongora Earns ACC Pitcher of the Week Honors

The southpaw struck out a career high 11 in Friday’s win over NC State.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior pitcher Sebastian Gongora was named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Gongora shared the weekly award with Aidan Knaak of Clemson.
The senior left-hander was dominant in Louisville's series opening 11-1 victory over No. 19 NC State on Friday night.
Gongora turned in a seven-inning complete game effort, striking out a career high 11 batters in the process. The Dayton, Ohio, native surrendered just one run on a solo home run while allowing three hits.
Gongora dominated the middle innings on Friday night, recording strikeouts for eight of his nine outs in the third through fifth frames.
His pitching performance was part of a big weekend for the Cardinals that saw them turn in a three-game sweep of the Wolfpack.
Louisville will now head on the road for a midweek contest at Western Kentucky on Tuesday.
