Chris Bell hauls in two touchdowns to give the offense the win
The University of Louisville football team held its annual Spring Football Game on Friday at 7 p.m., with the offense coming out on top over the defense, 45-37 at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Chris Bell helped the offense get on the board first with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Shough on the first play of the evening. Bell scored another touchdown in the first half, and would eventually total 126 receiving yards. Pierce Clarkson tacked on 62-yard touchdown pass to Jaedon King.Â
Despite the offense's first-half production, the defense led 23-21 headed into halftime. The defense was able to tally points throughout the night through defensive stops, 3-and-outs, and turnovers.
The defense kept it rolling in the second half and held the offense scoreless in the third quarter. The defense maintained the lead late in the fourth quarter before Kris Hughes recorded the final touchdown of the day, giving the offense the narrow victory.
Shough went 8-of-12, throwing for 177 yards and two touchdowns while Clarkson went 9-of-14, throwing for 117 yards and one touchdown.
On the ground, it was Keyjuan Brown as the leading rusher finishing with 37 yards on nine attempts.
Nick Keller highlighted the special teams with a 57-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
The defense logged two interceptions on the night, with Quincy Riley and Aaron Williams recording one each.
Louisville Head Coach Jeff Brohm Said:
"I thought the guys played hard," head coach Jeff Brohm said. "It was a pretty good spring scrimmage that you like to have where you see some things that you stood out as positives, and you had some things that you must get better at as we approach the fall. Overall, I was pleased with the execution on both sides of the ball from a lot of players in the game."
