
Cards Set Nine Personal-Bests on First Day of Jim Green Invitational

Ryan Farrell (men’s 800m) and Natalie Lark (women’s pole vault) both posted top-three finishes to lead the way.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams posted six top-five individual finishes while recording a total of nine personal-best marks on Friday to begin the Jim Green Invitational.
On the track, Ryan Farrell led the way with a third-place showing in the men's 800m invitational section, closing to a new personal-best time of 1:49.69. Alessandra Rodriguez placed fourth in the women's iteration of the same event, dropping over a second off her previous personal record with a time of 2:10.80 to move into the top-10 in Louisville history.
The Cardinals were well-represented in the invitational section of the women's pole vault, as Natalie Lark and Iliana Triantafyllou both cleared a bar of 4.05m (13-1.5) to finish third and fourth respectively.
Sophia Day got her weekend started with a fifth-place finish in the women's long jump after earning a wind-assisted mark of 5.64m (18-6).
Erik Fertig rounded out the top five in the men's hammer throw with a heave of 58.02m (190-4), while Zoe Yeast placed sixth in the women's hammer throw with a season-best mark of 50.03m (164-1).
Ryan Drwal jumped up to sixth in program history in the men's javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 54.51m (178-10) to place seventh, and Gianna Rotelli took sixth in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 37.12m (121-9).
The Cardinals will be back in Lexington tomorrow morning with field events beginning with the women's discus throw at 10:30 a.m., while Louisville will start action on the track at 2:25 with the women's 100m.
