April 16, 2024 | Track & Field
The junior broke the ACC and school record in the discus throw with a NCAA-leading toss of 64.29m (210-11) at the Pacific Coast Invitational over the weekend.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Louisville women's track & field athlete Jayden Ulrich has been named the ACC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
The junior won the women's discus throw at the Pacific Coast Invitational last Thursday, setting a new ACC record with an NCAA-leading mark of 64.29m (210-11). The toss stands as the eighth-farthest throw in NCAA history, while ranking ninth in the world and fourth among American athletes in the event for the 2024 season. The mark also bested her own school record of 60.16m that was set two weeks ago at the Texas Relays by over four meters.
Following the historic performance, Ulrich doubled back two days later to finish as the runner-up in the event at the Beach Invitational with a final mark of 58.24m (190-9), giving her three of the five best throws in program history through her first three outdoor meets in a Louisville uniform.
This is the first outdoor ACC honor for Ulrich after winning ACC Women's Field Athlete of the Week three times during the indoor season before winning the women's shot put title at the ACC Indoor Championships in February.
