
Cardinals Continue Homestand Tuesday Against Virginia Tech

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville men's basketball continues its homestand to wrap up the regular season against Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday at the KFC Yum! Center. The game will air on ESPNU.
The Cardinals lost their fifth straight Saturday with an 82-76 home loss to Syracuse. Virginia Tech snapped a two-game slide with an 87-76 victory over Wake Forest at home Saturday.
Louisville is 36-11 all-time against the Hokies, although Virginia Tech has won three in a row. The Cardinals had won 17 in a row and 28 of the last 30 before that stretch. UofL head coach Kenny Payne is 0-2 in his career against Virginia Tech.

The Cardinals led by as much as eight in the first half and by one at halftime, but a 16-2 run by the Hokies spanning both halves – including an 8-0 spurt to open the second half – turned the tide.
Freshman guard Ty-Laur Johnson reclaimed the lead for the Cards with a four-point play on a 3-pointer and the foul, and he later gave them their final lead at 48-47 with 10:49 remaining following back-to-back baskets.
The Hokies kept the advantage in the final minutes by exploiting the free-throw line. Junior forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield brought Louisville back within one at 67-66 with two free throws at the 1:58 mark, but the Cardinals never got back on top.
Five Louisville players scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Skyy Clark's 16 points and three assists.
