GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Louisville track & field freshman Cade DeWitt has been named the ACC Men's Freshman of the Year for the 2023-24 indoor season, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
After a season in which DeWitt finished as the runner-up in the men's pole vault at the ACC Indoor Championships, he becomes the first athlete in program history to be honored as the ACC Freshman of the Year.
DeWitt broke the Louisville indoor school record in the men's pole vault with a mark of 5.32m (17-5.5) at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational before matching the record-setting mark at the Eagle Elite Invitational for his first collegiate victory.
The native of Bentonville, Ark. competed in six meets throughout his freshman campaign, posting a top-four finish in each of his appearances, including five top-three finishes.
DeWitt and the rest of the Cardinals will begin the outdoor season on Mar. 27-30 with a four-way split between the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, Stanford Invitational, and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
