Cardinals Fall to to No. 40 Wake Forest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 7-0 at No. 40-ranked Wake Forest in ACC action Friday afternoon in Winston-Salem.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point, losing at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to go down 1-0.

WFU's Nevena Carton struck first in singles, downing Germany Davis 6-0, 6-1. Brooke Killingsworth beat Cardinal Lillian Mould 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot to push WFU to a 3-0 lead. The match was clinched at 4-0 at the No. 6 position when UofL's Berta Miret fell 6-3, 6-3 to Whitley Pate. Next to fall was Jamilah Snells at No. 1, when she fell to No.26-ranked Casie Wooten 6-4, 6-2. Allie Gretkowski fell 6-4, 6-3 to Sankavi Gowndr at No. 6 and the final point came at No. 3 court when Marcella Cruz downed Lika Peresypkina 6-4, 6-4.

UofL falls to 4-6 while  Wake Forest improves to 7-5.  The Cardinals head over to NC State for a Sunday match at No. 10 NC State (8-3) in Raleigh.
