Cards Travel to Wake Forest and NC State as ACC Play Continues

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville women's tennis team is on the road this weekend, facing Wake Forest and NC State to continue conference play. The Cards will play No. 40 Wake Forest on Friday, March 1 at 4 p.m. at the Wake Forest Tennis Center and No.10 NC State on Sunday, March 3 at 12 p.m. at the Isenhour Tennis Center.

The Cardinals (4-5, 0-2 ACC) are looking to snap a three-match losing streak going into Friday's match. Louisville lost both of their matches at home this weekend, falling 3-4 to Virginia Tech on Friday and 1-6 to No. 5 Virginia on Saturday. The Cards began the match against Virginia Tech by dropping the doubles point. The singles competition was highlighted by three wins by Lika Persypkina, Allie Gretkowski, and Berta Miret. Louisville's lone point of the match against Virginia was Miret's 6-4, 6-1 win on court six.Â

No. 40 Wake Forest (6-5) competed in the Blue Gray Classic this weekend. The Deacons earned their first win of the competition with a 4-0 win over No. 38 Yale on Friday before falling 1-4 to No. 26 Texas Tech in the second round. Wake Forest finished the final round with a 4-1 win over No. 44 Illinois to close out their weekend.Â

No. 10 NC State (8-3) is coming off a 2-4 loss to Oklahoma on Sunday, Feb. 25. The Wolkpack's two points are from singles competition where No. 27 Anna Zyryanova won 6-4, 7-6(7-3) on court three and Maddy Zampardo won 6-2, 7-6(7-3) on court five. NC State is led in singles by Amelia Rajecki who is ranked No. 3 with an 18-4 record.Â
