LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Virginia Tech Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

UofL fought hard but ultimately dropped the doubles point as they lost at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots, both by the score of 7-6 (7-3). Nevertheless, the Cardinals duo of Jamilah Snells and Lillian Mould battled in the effort, defeating the Hokies Charlotte Cartledge and Ozlem Uslu 7-5 on Court 1.

Louisville took the first singles point when Allie Gretkowski defeated Laima Frosch 6-2, 6-2 on Court 5, knotting the match score at one apiece. UofL's Mould came up short on Court 2, falling to Uslu 3-6, 3-6.

However, the Cardinals bounced back on Court 6 when Berta Miret took down Semra Aksu 6-3, 6-3, tying the match again at two. The Hokies and Cardinals continued going back and forth on Court 1 when Snells fell to Katie Andre 2-6, 5-7, and on Court 3, Lika Peresypkina defeated Tamara Itzhaki 7-5, 6-1.

In the final match of the afternoon, Germany Davis battled but ultimately fell to Dariya Radulova 4-6, 7-5, 2-6 in a three-set thriller, clinching the match for the Hokies.

The Cardinals will now look towards their next match when they face off against the #6 Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday, February 25, starting at noon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
