Cardinals Set to Host Virginia Tech and Virginia As ACC Play Continues

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team begins conference play this weekend, hosting Virginia Tech on Friday at 4 p.m. and Virginia on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals are coming off a 4-3 loss to crosstown rival Bellarmine. Louisville started the match by earning the doubles points with wins on court two and three. UofL's Germany Davis and Jamilah Snells won on their singles courts before Bellarmine won on the final four courts to clinch the match for the Knights.Â

Virginia Tech won both of its matches this past weekend, defeating Appalachian State(3-3) 5-2 on Saturday and Delaware(4-4) 4-3 on Sunday. The Hokies took the doubles point against Appalachian State with wins on all three courts. Laima Frosch, Semra Aksu, Erika Cheng, and Charlotte Cartledge all won on their singles courts with Frosch's win clinching the match for Virginia Tech. The second match of the weekend was highlighted by wins on all three doubles courts and three wins on singles courts by Katie Andreini, Aksu, and Cheng.Â

No. 6 Virginia competed in the ITA National Team Indoor Tournament last weekend. The Cavaliers won their first match of the tournament, defeating No. 13 Pepperdine(4-2) 5-2 before falling 1-4 to No. 2 Michigan(8-3) in the quarterfinals. Virginia played No. 8 North Carolina(7-2) in a consolation game on Sunday and took home a 4-0 win.Â
