LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams begin the postseason this weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships, which will take place from Feb. 22-24 in Boston, Mass. at the TRACK at New Balance.
Competition will begin on Thursday morning with the onset of the women's pentathlon events at 11:00 a.m. and will conclude at 7:30 p.m. with the women's distance medley relays. Friday morning's events will also begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m., while the final day of competition will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning before concluding at 4:00 p.m.
Portions of the meet from each of the three days of competition will be streamed live on ACCNX. The streaming schedule can be found below.
The top-three finishers in each individual event and the top relay team will earn All-ACC First Team distinction, while the athletes who finish fourth through sixth in each individual event and the second and third place relay team will be honored as Second Team All-ACC. Season awards within the conference will be determined by a coaches' vote following the completion of the NCAA Indoor Championships and will be announced in late March.
The Cardinals will be making their postseason debut under director of track & field/cross country Joe Franklin, with the men's squad currently ranked sixth in the latest installment of the USTFCCCA's ACC Rating Index, while the women are ranked 10th.
Last season, the men's squad recorded their best finish at the ACC Indoor Championships since joining the conference prior to the 2014-15 season, finishing in fourth place overall as the women's team placed eighth, while the team accrued 17 All-ACC honorees at the meet, the most in program history.
Louisville returns eight student athletes who earned All-ACC distinction a year ago, including Trey Allen, who will look to earn his third consecutive indoor ACC title in the men's high jump.
