February 13, 2024 | Track & Field
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Louisville men's track & field athlete Cade DeWitt has been named the ACC Men's Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
DeWitt has now been honored by the conference three times in the inaugural season for the Freshman of the Week awards, having also earned the distinction on Dec. 5 and Jan. 30. In doing so, he joins Jayden Ulrich as the only athletes in program history to earn an ACC weekly award three times in the same season, after Ulrich won her third ACC Women's Field Athlete of the Week award of the year on Feb. 6.
The native of Bentonville, Ark. picked up the first event victory of his young collegiate career at the Eagle Elite Invitational over the weekend, winning the men's pole vault with a final clearance of 5.32m (17-5.5). The mark tied his own school and freshman record which he set at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in late January and currently stands tied for second overall in the ACC and tied for fifth among freshmen nationally.
