Cabello Earns Sixth ACC Freshman of the Week Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville setter Nayelis Cabello was tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Week for matches played Nov. 18-24.
Cabello was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week. The setter out of Clermont, Florida, helped lead the Cardinals to a .309 hitting percentage in two wins over Virginia and Virginia Tech last week. Cabello had 31 assists in the 6-2 Cardinal offense while adding 20 digs and a block to the Louisville defense. This is Cabello's sixth Freshman of the Week award this season.
Miami junior outside hitter Flormarie Heredia Colon and Florida State senior middle blocker Khori Louis were named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Stanford senior middle blocker Sami Francis was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally, Miami redshirt freshman Ariana Rodriguez was named the ACC Setter of the Week.
Seven ACC teams are ranked inside the latest AVCA/TARFLEX Coaches Poll, headlined by No. 1 Pitt and No. 3 Louisville, while No. 6 Stanford and No. 10 SMU in the top 10. Georgia Tech comes in at No. 19 while Florida State and North Carolina sit at No. 21 and No. 25, respectively. The seven ranked teams are tied for the most of any conference this week. Conference play wraps up this week beginning on Wednesday, November 27, when all 18 conference members kick off their last week of the regular season. No. 1 Pitt and No. 3 Louisville go head-to-head on Wednesday to fight for atleast a share of the 2024 ACC Volleyball Champion title.
