No. 9/7 Cardinals Complete Day 1 Prelims

The No. 9/7 University of Louisville Cardinals completed their first day of competing at th Ohio State Invitational. The Cardinals' swimming and diving team will be back in action tonight in the finals.Â
On Thursday and Friday, the prelims will start at 9:30 A.M. and the finals will start at 5:30 P.M. On Saturday, prelims will start at 8:00 A.M. and finals will start at 3:30 P.M. Both prelims and finals will be swam in a short course yards pool. Other teams competing are No.10/15 Ohio St, Cincinnati, No. 3/3 Indiana, Penn St, Yale, Notre Dame (Women only), No. 24 UCLA (Women only), and Rutgers (Diving only).
The Louisville Divers will send three to the finals tonight. In men's 1M diving, Mack Molloy qualified sixth with a score of 315.85 and Rayce Winn was 8th in prelims with a 312.25 to advance with the top 12 into the finals. The women will send Audree Brazeau-Howes to the finals of the 3M board as she finished 11th with a score of 280.25.Â
In the women's 500  freestyle, IU's Anna Puplowski finished first with a time of 4:37.07. Cardinals Daria Golovaty and Summer Cardwell finished fifth and sixth with times of 4:42.87 and 4:42.96. Freshman Amelia Bodenstab clocked in at 4:48.63, which placed 14th overall.

In the men's 500 freestyle, Yale's Noah Millard earned the top time of 4:15.59. Three Cardinals cracked the top ten for this event. Denis Loktev finished fifth with a 4:17.35, Murilo Sartori took seventh with a 4:17.83, and Gregg Enoch was ninth with a 4:19.80. Elijah Shoyat posted a time of 4:22.40, which was 16th overall. Gustavo Saldo finished 22nd with a time of 4:24.76 and Kayden Lancaster finished 24th with a time of 4:25.17.

For the women's 200 IM, Paige Hall from OSU had the best time of the morning with a 1:56.89. Camden Doane and Kim Herkle tied for place with a time of 1:58.69. Fernanda Gomes Celidonio touched with a time of 1:58.89 which was tenth overall. Tristen Ulett qualified for the B-final with the 15th fastest time at 1:59.37.

In the men's 200 IM, IU's Luke Barr had the fastest swim with a time of 1:42.09. Cardinal freshman Gregg Enoch touched third with a time of 1:43.92. Jackson Millard also finished inside the top ten, placing sixth with a time of 1:44.48. Aidan Paro clocked in at 1:46.57, making him 15th overall. Tommy Bried and Jake Eccleston finished back-to-back, placing 23rd and 24th with times of 147.25 and 147.34. Drew Collins touched 26th at 1:47.43, and Luke Shourds touched 30th at 1:47.76.

The women's 50 freestyle saw the Cardinals take the top three spots overall. Julia Dennis had the fastest time of 21.77, Gabi Albiero and Caroline Larsen tied for second with a time of 22.09. Lucy Mehraban and Karoline Barrett also cracked the A-final. Lucy placed ninth with a 22.55, and Karoline placed tenth 22.57. Ella Welch and Abby Karl qualified for the B-final, tying for 13th place at 22.68.

In the men's 50 freestyle, Finn Brooks from IU took the best time of 19.24. Two Cardinals finished right behind. Yassin Abdelghany finished second at 19.43 and Guy Brooks finished third at 19.44. Three more Cardinals placed inside the top ten. Dalton Lowe touched sixth with a 19.60, while Charlie Crush and Aiden Musso tied for ninth with a time of 19.63. Matias Santiso touched at a time of 19.88, placing 18th overall. Rian Graham finished 21st overall, clocking in at 19.94.Â
