Cardinals Return Home to Host Morehead State
November 20, 2024 | Women's Basketball
This will be the first home game for the Cardinals in almost two weeks
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 25/22 Louisville women's basketball team (2-2) is back at the KFC Yum! Center and ready to face off against another in-state foe. The Cardinals are set to host Morehead State (1-3) Thursday night from the Yum! Center. The Cards and Eagles are set to square off at 7 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
Thursday's matchup will be the second home game of the season, after the Cardinals won the home opener 75-51 against Southern Indiana on Nov. 8. Last season, the Cardinals were 14-2 at home and were 7-0 at home during non-conference play. The Cards hosted Morehead State at home last season and came away with a 74-48 win.
Two freshmen have really shined bright to start their collegiate careers with the Cardinals this season in Tajianna Roberts and Imari Berry. Roberts has started all four of her collegiate games and has scored in double figures in all four. She is the only Louisville player to score in double figures in every game this season. After the opening week of the season where she scored 21 in the opener against No. 5/6 UCLA, she was named ACC Rookie of the Week.
Imari Berry has done well on the glass and putting the ball in the basket. In the home opener against Southern Indiana, she led the team with eight rebounds on the night. The following game at UT Martin, she led the team again with a season-high nine rebounds to go with 10 points. On the road over the weekend against No. 20/19 Kentucky, she scored 12-straight points between the third and fourth quarter. Berry finished the game with a team-high 14 points and was 4-for-5 from behind the arc.
