It is the 32nd time in program history that the Cards eclipsed 100 points
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 25/22 Louisville women's basketball team (3-2) had no problem finding the offense in the 107-70 win over Morehead State (1-4) Thursday night at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards eclipsed the century mark for the first time this season and the 32nd time in program history. All 14 players that played in the game scored, the most players to score in a game this season.
Imari Berry continued her strong play over the past few weeks. She led all scorers with 21 points on the night and was 8-for-12 from the field and 5-for-8 from behind the arc. The five three pointers in a game are the most by a Louisville freshman since the 2020-21 season. She has scored in double figures in three-straight games and has led the Cards in scoring in each of the last two games. Berry also tallied four assists and three rebounds on the night.
Isla Juffermans had her best game of her young career when she scored a season-high 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting to go with four rebounds and one assist in over 17 minutes played. Tajianna Roberts scored in double figures for the fifth-straight game to begin her college career. She had 11 points, hit three three-pointers and had two rebounds and two assists.
Jayda Curry played for the first time this season and was the fourth Cardinal to score in double figures with 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting. She also added three assists, two rebounds and hit two three-pointers. Ja'Leah Williams led the Cards with eight assists on the night and has led the team in assists in four of the five games this season.
The Cardinals as a team shot 39-for-62 (62.9 percent) from the floor and 16-for-27 (59.3 percent) from three in the win. It was the highest shooting percentage in a game since December 5, 2022, when the Cards shot 66.2 percent in the win over SIUE. The 16 threes were the most threes in a game for the Cards since Nov. 6, 2018, when they hit 16 against Western Kentucky.
Curry made her first appearance of the season in the first quarter after missing the first four games due to injury. Just moments after getting on the court, she hit a three-pointer in her first field goal attempt of the season. Berry picked up where she left off in Lexington as she hit back-to-back threes in the opening quarter. Nine different players scored in the opening quarter and Louisville held a 28-287 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
The Cards continued to shoot well from downtown in the second quarter as Williams hit back-to-back threes. Her buckets were part of an 8-0 run for the Cards and caused Morehead State to burn a timeout. Berry knocked down three more threes in the second quarter and surpassed her season high of four threes in the first half against Morehead.
Louisville went into the half with a 59-37 lead and the Cardinals hit 10 three-pointers in the first half. Berry tallied 17 points in the first half and was 5-for-7 from behind the arc. The five threes were the most by a Louisville player in a game this season.
In the second half, the Cardinals bench got a lot of run and some players were able to make an impact during their time on the court.
Freshman Reagan Bender scored her first collegiate points with a three-pointer and followed it up with another three moments later. She had six points after shooting 2-for-3 from behind the arc. Redshirt freshman Eseosa Imafidon tallied four points, six rebounds and three blocks in just six minutes of action in the second half. Izela Arenas tallied eight points and was 2-for-3 from three in 13 minutes Thursday night.
The Cardinals are back out on the road for their next two games, starting this weekend as they head down to the Sunshine State. Louisville is heading to Orlando to take on South Florida at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Sunday, Nov. 24. The Cards and Bulls will face off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday and the game will be streamed on NBC Sports FAST, which is available on Peacock and Roku.
