Cards Earn Five Podium Finishes on Day One of PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams completed the first of two days of competition at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Friday, recording five podium finishes in the process.
Noah Koch began the day with his first event victory as a Cardinal in only his second meet in a Louisville uniform, recording a throw of 20.32m (66-8) in the men's weight throw that stands as the fifth-best toss in school history.
Ryan Farrell also recorded a top-five mark in program history while securing an event victory, winning the men's 800m with a time of 1:50.80 that places him within the top-30 nationally entering the weekend.
The Cardinals also boasted the top two collegiate finishers in the men's elite long jump, as Jeremiah Willis placed second overall with a leap of 7.73m (25-4.5) with Jake Burkey placing third after jumping 7.59m (24-11) on his final attempt.
Friday's competition marked the first time this season that the Cardinals have had the chance to compete in combined events, with the opportunity culminating in a runner-up finish for freshman Lucy Fellows in the women's pentathlon.
Fellows finished with a total of 3,639 points, keyed by a pair of personal-best performances in the 60m hurdles and shot put while recording marks in the shot put and long jump that led the field.
On the men's side of the combined events, Paul Kallenberg currently sits third after the first four events of the men's heptathlon with a total of 3,184 points, just 213 points behind the top mark heading into Saturday.
Louisville closed their day in the field events with a massive personal-best in the women's seeded pole vault, as Lydia Stuart cleared 4.03m (13-2.5) to take fourth place, while Zoe Yeast finished fifth in the women's weight throw with a heave of 17.48m (57-4.25).
Maddie Seaby also earned a fifth-place finish in her debut on the track, as the freshman clocked a time of 9:43.34 in the women's 3000m to begin her season.
The PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational rolls on tomorrow with events beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the beginning of the day's field events and the continuation of the men's heptathlon.
