Cards Ranked Fifth in Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville stands at No. 5 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I national poll released on Sept. 5.

The Cardinals moved up four spots from their preseason ranking after compiling a 4-0 record with wins over then-No. 2 Northwestern and No. 10 Princeton. Louisville has appeared among the top 10 in 41 of the last 43 ranking periods spanning back to 2019 when they appeared at No. 8 on Sept. 10. Additionally, the Cards have now spent 107 consecutive weeks in the top 20 in the nation dating back to the 2013 season.

Louisville's 2023 schedule features 10 opponents currently ranked among the top 20 in the NFHCA rankings including five top-10 teams. The slate also includes 2022 national champion North Carolina, runner-up Northwestern and semifinalist Iowa.

UofL will return to action this weekend when No. 18 Ohio State visits Trager Stadium for a 6 p.m. matchup on Friday and the Cards play host to VCU Sunday at 12 p.m.
