Cardinals Win Two in Fall Opener

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team finished their first fall ball tournament of the season this afternoon with wins over the University of Indianapolis and Youngstown State University.
The Cardinals started the day with a close game against the University of Cincinnati but fell short, 6-9. Kokoro Nakazawa had two goals for Louisville with one assisted by her sister Negai Nakazawa.
Kokoro Nakazawa also led the Cards in their 16-3 victory over Youngstown State later this afternoon. She tallied up four goals while Nicole Perroni, Lauren Figas, Isabelle Seikel, and Allegra Catalano had two apiece. Louisville totaled 29 shots while limiting Youngstown State to just seven shots.
In the final game of the day, the Cards defeated the University of Indianapolis 13-4. Negai Nakazawa led with four goals and Kokoro Nakazawa added on three goals. Louisville outshot UIndy 23-13 and tallied seven saves between goalkeepers Aubrey Bagenstose and Hanna John.
The Cards will travel to Notre Dame next to play in a two-day fall tournament on October 7-8.
