
Cards Place Five on NFHCA Preseason Watchlist

Izzy Bianco, Emilia Kaczmarczyk, Julie Kouijzer, Lauren Masters and Aimee Plumb represent the Cards on the national preseason watchlist
MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – The University of Louisville field hockey team placed five on the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Watchlist as announced by the organization today. Izzy Bianco, Emilia Kaczmarczyk, Julie Kouijzer, Lauren Masters and Aimee Plumb represent the Cardinals on the list.

Bianco, a sophomore midfielder from Berlin, N.J. has played in every game since taking the field as a freshman and is a member of the USA Field Hockey Under-21 team.

Kaczmarczyk, a fifth-year senior midfielder from Melton-Mowbray, England, was an NFHCA All-West Region selection in 2022 and has played in every game throughout her career at Louisville. Last weekend, she delivered the lone goal of the game in the Cardinals' 1-0 win at No. 2 Northwestern.

Kouijzer, a fifth-year senior defender from Amsterdam, The Netherlands is a two-time NFHCA All-American, a three-time NFHCA All-West Region, a two-time All-ACC honoree. She was also named to the 2023 Preseason All-ACC team. Kouijzer notched Louisville's first goal of the season in the 3-1 win over Northeastern.

Masters, a freshman forward from Pittstown, N.J., has played in both of the Cardinals' early season game and was a two-time NFHCA All-American and All-Region selection in high school.

Plumb, a senior from Canterbury Kent, England, makes her second straight appearance on the preseason watchlist. The forward/midfielder is a two-time NFHCA All-American, All-West Region and All-ACC selection. She was also named to the 2022 and 2023 Preseason All-ACC teams. Plumb connected on the game-winner against Northeastern in Louisville's season opener and now has 22 goals in her career.

This list features 131 student-athletes from 40 Division I institutions and is intended to showcase those field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the current year's NFHCA All-American teams. To be nominated for the 2023 NFHCA Watchlist, student-athletes must have been previously recognized for their outstanding field hockey abilities within the past two years (NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-American, All-Conference, Nexus Championship selection, AAU Junior Olympic Games selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team, and/or U.S. National or International Team roster) and the student-athlete's head coach must be an active NFHCA member.

This list does not constitute a nomination or selection to the NFHCA All-Region or All-American teams. Student-athletes not listed on the NFHCA Watchlist may still be nominated for NFHCA All-Region and All-American recognition.
