Field Hockey Takes Part in UofL Fall Sports Media Day

University of Louisville head field hockey coach Justine Sowry along with seniors India Reed and Minna Tremonti met with local media to preview the season Tuesday at UofL's annual Fall Sports Media Day.

Louisville will play host to Bellarmine in a preseason scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Trager Stadium followed by another preseason tune up at Ohio on Sunday. UofL will officially open the season on Aug. 25 when Northeastern visits Trager Stadium for a 5 p.m. matchup. Admission is free to all home games.

• The Cardinals registered a 12-8 overall record after earning its fourth-straight NCAA tournament bid. The Cardinals were ranked No. 12 in the final NFHCA Coaches Poll after spending the entire season in the top 15 and reaching as high as No. 4 in the 2022 campaign.
• Louisville returns 17 letterwinners from last year's team including two-time NFHCA All-Americans Julie Kouijzer and Aimee Plumb along with fellow NFHCA All-West Region honoree Emilia Kaczmarczyk. The Cardinals will also welcome 10 newcomers including eight freshmen and two graduate transfers.
• Justine Sowry is entering her 13th season as head coach. She has guided the Cardinals to three conference titles, a pair of runner-up finishes in the ACC tournament and eight NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the semifinals for the first time in program history in 2020.
