
Bell Elevated to Assistant Coach/Operations Coordinator

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville head field hockey coach Justine Sowry has announced that Debbie Bell has been named Assistant Coach/Operations Coordinator after spending six years as the program's director of operations.

"I am thrilled for Debbie to move from her operations role into our coaching ranks," said Sowry. "She has been a trusted and valued member of our staff for many years and in her new position, will have the opportunity to directly impact our student-athletes not on the hockey pitch, but also in their overall development. Her enthusiasm and passion for our program speaks volumes and both our student-athletes and staff will benefit from her increased exposure and involvement."

In her new role, Bell will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers and assist with game preparation. Additionally, she will help with the overall leadership development of the field hockey student-athletes while coordination day-to-day management of the field hockey program including game day operations liaison, coordinating with the coaching staff and support staff.

Prior to her time in Louisville, Bell spent two years (2015 and 2016) as an assistant field hockey coach at Columbia University following a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Manhattanville College (2015-16). Along with her collegiate staff roles, Bell has also worked with USA Field Hockey Futures Program since 2009. Previously, she has had coaching stints at Rye High School, Bates College and her alma mater, Kent State.
