The 18 game schedule features 10 home games at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes and the University of Louisville women's soccer program has released its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season.
The Cardinals 18-match slate features 10 regular season home contests at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium and one road exhibition before the season begins. UofL will play eight of its 18 matches against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2022. Of those eight teams, five of them made the third round or farther and four made the quarterfinals or farther.
Louisville will have a road scrimmage at Miami (OH) on Sunday, August 6 before opening the season at home. The regular season opener will be against Indiana State on Thursday, August 17 at 7:30 p.m. ET and Lynn Stadium. It will be the second-ever meeting between the Cardinals and Sycamores as the Cardinals won their lone meeting against Indiana State, 4-0, in 2016.
The Cardinals will have two road games in the state of Ohio up next as they travel to Xavier on Sunday, August 20 and Dayton on Thursday, August 24. It is the second-straight season the Cardinals will face Xavier after they traveled to Louisville last season. It will be the 16th meeting all-time between Louisville and Dayton and the Cardinals have won each of the previous four meetings.
Louisville returns home for a three-game homestand that begins with Northern Kentucky on Sunday, August 27. The Cardinals played Northern Kentucky on the road last season and came away with a 1-0 win.
A quick game away from home awaits the Cardinals as they travel to Bloomington to face the Hoosiers on Thursday, September 7. Last season, the Cards and Hoosiers had a 0-0 draw at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. Louisville is undefeated in the previous four matchups against Indiana.
Another three-game homestand is on deck starting with their final non-conference game against Wyoming on Sunday, September 10. It will be the first time the two schools have met in program history.
The ACC opener is up next as the Cardinals welcome Virginia to Lynn Stadium on Saturday, September 16. It will be the first time the Cavaliers travel to Louisville since the 2018 season. The Cardinals close out the homestand with Pitt on Thursday, September 21. Louisville is 7-3 all-time against the Panthers.
The next two matchups will be on the road for the Cardinals as they travel to Miami on Sunday, September 24 and Notre Dame on Saturday, September 30. The Cardinals have won the last six matches with the Hurricanes and are 7-1-1 against Miami in program history.
Two more home games are next as the Cardinals host Florida State on Thursday, October 5 and Syracuse on Sunday, October 8. Louisville is 8-0-1 all-time against Syracuse and it will be their first visit to Louisville since the 2020 season.
The final road trip of the regular season is next as the Cardinals have three-straight games on the road. They start with Boston College on Saturday, October 14, then head to Clemson on Thursday, October 19 and finish the trip at Wake Forest on Sunday, October 22. Louisville has won the last three matches against the Demon Deacons.
The Cardinals close out the regular season at home with a match against Duke on Thursday, October 26. The ACC Tournament will begin that weekend as the quarterfinal matchups begin on Sunday, October 29 at various campus sites.
