
Men’s Track & Field Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

Ethan Alyea, Ty McPhail, Ethan Meyer and Luke Nichols were all recognized.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's Ethan Alyea, Ty McPhail, Ethan Meyer and Luke Nichols were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Men's Track & Field Academic All-District team.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Track & Field Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes track & field honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Alyea competed in six meets this season in the hammer throw, culminating with a personal-best toss of 60.01m (196-10) at the ACC Outdoor Championships. He also posted three third-place finishes in the event throughout the year.
McPhail qualified in the pole vault for the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round for the second straight season after clearing the five-meter mark in three meets, including a personal-best clearance of 5.15m (16-10.75) at the Jim Freeman Louisville Invitational. The sophomore also tied for seventh in the event at the ACC Outdoor Championships to secure a point for the Cardinals.
Meyer competed in five meets this season, recording personal-best times in the 800m, 3000m, and the 5000m. The redshirt junior also competed in the 10000m at the ACC Outdoor Championships, marking his first career appearance in the event.
Nichols competed in three meets this season in the high jump, clearing a season-best height of 2.05m (6-8.75) to place fifth at the ACC Outdoor Championships on his way to earning Second Team All-ACC honors.

- While completing an undergraduate degree in exercise science, the business analytics master's student has been honored twice as a member of the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll, while also being selected to last season's USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
