
Flowers Set for USA U19 Men’s National Team Training Camp

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville men's basketball incoming freshman Trentyn Flowers will be one of 30 athletes participating this week in the 2023 USA U19 Men's National Team Training Camp.
Flowers – a 6-foot-7 guard from Charlotte, N.C. – will take part in the camp which begins today at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The final 12-member team will be announced before departing for the 2023 FIBA U19 Men's World Cup, scheduled for June 24-July 2 in Debrecen, Hungary.
Athletes attending training camp were selected by the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team Committee. Those eligible for the team must be U.S. citizens, born on or after Jan. 1, 2004.
The United States will square off with Lebanon, Madagascar and Slovenia in pool play. The U.S. has won the competition eight times, including three of the last four competitions—in 2015, 2019 and 2021.
Flowers is among a group of nine at the training camp representing the incoming freshman class of 2023. He was previously in the 2024 class before reclassifying out of Combine Academy.
Flowers averaged 16 points, six rebounds and 1.2 assists per game as a junior at Combine Academy, leading his squad to a 37-5 record and the Phenom HoopState Championship title. He had 15 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in the championship victory over Winston-Salem Christian.
He previously played his freshman season at Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, where he averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per contest.
