Brown Jr., Conwell Invited to NBA Draft Combine

Mikel Brown Jr. and Ryan Conwell are the first Cards to be invited to the NBA Draft Combine since 2019
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's basketball guards Mikel Brown Jr. and Ryan Conwell have been invited to participate in the 2026 NBA Draft Combine.
The NBA Draft Combine will take place from May 10-17 at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago.
Brown averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game in 21 contests for the Cards, earning Third Team All-ACC and All-Rookie Team honors. He recorded nine 20-point games, the most by any Louisville freshman in a single season in program history. He led Louisville in scoring on nine occasions and led the Cardinals in assists in 16 of his 21 appearances.
Brown was named the National AP Player of the Week, Naismith Trophy Player of the Week and ACC Player and Rookie of the Week in mid-February for his stellar performances against NC State and Baylor. Against the Wolfpack, the freshman tied the Louisville single-game scoring record at 45 points and broke the ACC Freshman single-game scoring record.
The Orlando, Fla., native is the only freshman in at least the last 30 years to have 45 points, nine boards and three steals in the same game. He is the only player in DI since at least 2010-11 to record at least 45 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals in 34 minutes or less.
Conwell led Louisville in scoring with an average of 18.8 points per game, shooting 40.8% from the floor and 34.5% from the arc. The Second Team All-ACC selection appeared and started in 34 games for the Cardinals.
The Indianapolis, Ind., native finished the season sixth in the league in scoring, 10th in free throw percentage and eighth in 3-point field goal percentage. He pulled down 4.8 boards per game to go along with 2.7 assists per outing.
Conwell knocked down 112 3-pointers on the year, averaging 3.29 per game, ranking in the top 20 nationally in the category. His 112 makes was top 15 and his 325 total attempts was second overall in the country. He scored in double digit figures in 33 of the 34 games he played in, recording 15 20-point performances and two outings to 30-plus points.
The 2026 NBA Draft Lottery will be broadcast on ABC at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 10. The first round of the NBA Draft is June 23 on ABC and ESPN with the second round to follow on June 24, also on ESPN.
Louisville has had 77 NBA Draft picks in the program's history, with 20 players playing in the NBA in the last 11 years. Of its 77 Draft picks, there have been 13 Cardinals selected in the Top 10 of the NBA Draft.
