
Kouijzer Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sport Scholar Semifinalist

The University of Louisville's Julie Kouijzer has been named a 2023 semifinalist for the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education.

Kouijzer is coming off of an impressive senior campaign in which she earned her second straight National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America honor after registering a career-best six goals while helping the Cardinals defense produce five shutouts on the season. The defender from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 6 and was selected to the NFHCA Senior Team. The team co-captain and four-year starter is also a three-time All-West Region honoree and two-time All-ACC selection.

The marketing major is a three-time ACC Academic team and honor roll selection and has been named to the NFHCA National Academic squad four times, earning Scholar of Distinction honor in 2021.
