
Griffiths Selected to Compete in NCAA Regionals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Carmen Griffiths of the University of Louisville women's golf team was selected to participate in the 2023 NCAA Regional Championships as an individual. Griffiths will compete in the Westfield Regional which takes place on May 8-10 at the Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana.
The sophomore from Aboyne, Scotland has participated in every event for the Cardinals this season, averaging a single-round score of 72.8 in nine tournaments. She has recorded 12 rounds at par or below throughout the 2022-23 season.
Her best individual round of the season came in a tie for third place finish at the Schooner Classic where she carded scores of 68-65-69=202 (-8). This marks a career-best for Griffiths and the first time she has recorded scores below par in each round of tournament play.
She had her first collegiate ace at Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in the second round in which she scored 5-under-par 67. Her single round score of 67 tied for the lowest single-round score throughout the entire tournament.
Griffiths was named the Atlantic Coast Conference co-Women's Golfer of the Month for October and recorded her first collegiate victory at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate, shooting 2-under-par 214. During the fall semester, Griffiths was also honored as co-student-athlete of the week for the Cardinals with football's Yasir Abdullah.
Griffiths has been consistently placing in the top-10 this season with two T3 finishes, one T6 finish, and her 1st place finish. Throughout the season, Griffiths has found herself in the top-50 of the women's individual rankings (by Golfstat.com) twice with a No. 34 ranking on Oct. 19 and a No. 19 ranking following her first collegiate win (Oct. 26).
Each of the six NCAA regional sites feature 12 teams and six individuals. Thirty teams will advance to the championship in Scottsdale — five from each of the six regional sites. 156 players will advance to the championship, with the top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) advancing from each regional. The finals are May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
