Cards close a four-match ACC road swing with a 4-3 win at No. 25 NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 39-ranked University of Louisville took down No. 25 NC State 4-3 in an Atlantic Coast Conference road match Sunday afternoon at JW Isenhour Tennis Center.

"I'm very proud of the team and how they played today," said UofL head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "We have been playing hard haven't always getting rewarded, but the guys kept trusting the process."

After the Wolfpack (11-6, 5-1 ACC) took the doubles point to start the match with wins on courts one and three, Louisville's No. 55-ranked Fabien Salle quickly evened the score with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Braden Shick at the No. 3 spot.

NC State answered with a win on court five to push back ahead, but No. 31-ranked Etienne Donnet rallied to a 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 victory over No. 73 Luca Staeheli court two, tying the score at 2-2.

Louisville's 76^th-ranked Natan Rodrigues put his team back on top with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win against No. 52 Rafa Izquierdo Luque on court one. Once again, the Wolfpack countered, this time at the No. 5 spot.

The match came down to court six where freshman Andre' Steinbach bested Joseph Wayand 6-1, 7-5 to seal the ACC road victory.

The Cardinals (11-8, 2-6 ACC) will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to host Boston College Friday at 12 p.m.
