March 16, 2023 | Men's Golf
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's golfer Max Kennedy has moved into the top 20 in the latest Arnold Palmer Cup rankings on Thursday.
Kennedy moved from outside the top 25 up to 17th among International men in the penultimate rankings.
The top six golfers from the spring's final ranking from both the United States and International men and women shall be among the individuals selected to compete in the Palmer Cup. Longtime Arnold Palmer partner Rolex is continuing its 50-plus year relationship through its support of the matches, which will be hosted by Laurel Valley Golf Club June 8-10.
Using Golfstat's NCAA Player Ranking as a base, the Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.
The remaining six spots for the United States will consist of five committee picks, including at least one non-Division I golfer and a coaches pick. The balance of the International team also includes five committee selections, including at least one representative from The R&A Student Tour Series, and a coaches pick.
Kennedy has posted three consecutive top-10 finishes to lead the Cardinals this season. He has posted the team's top stroke average this season at 71.25 through eight events in the fall and spring. The junior posted a season best fourth-place finish at the General Hackler Championship last season.
Louisville is back on the course on Monday, as the Cardinals travel to Houston for the All-American Tournament.
