
Savage Earns First Team All-American Honors on Day One of the NCAA Championships

Cameron Miller advances to tomorrow’s 200m finals
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Louisville track and field teams were well-represented with four of their six qualifying athletes competing on the first day of the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Synclair Savage led the way for the Cardinals in her first NCAA Indoor Championships appearance, earning first team All-American honors with a leap of 6.41m (21-0.5) in the women's long jump. The junior's seventh-place finish marked the seventh consecutive season the Louisville women's squad has scored points at the indoor national meet and made her the first woman in program history to score points in the horizontal jumps at the indoor championships.
Two Cardinals garnered second team All-American distinction, as Aliyah Welter cleared a bar of 4.30m (14-1.25) to place tenth in the women's pole vault, a career-best finish in the event at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the senior. In the men's 60m dash, Sterling Warner-Savage blazed to a time of 6.63 to place 13th and cap off an indoor season that saw him run six of the top ten 60m times in school history.
Cameron Miller capped off the night with a time of 20.48 in the men's 200m, allowing him to move into tomorrow's finals with the sixth-fastest time in the preliminary round and secure first team All-American status.
Tomorrow's competition will resume for the Cardinals with Trey Allen and Brion Stephens taking part in the men's high jump at 3:00 p.m. ET, with Miller racing the 200m finals at 9:50 p.m. ET.
