LA QUINTA, Calif. – The No. 44 University of Louisville men's golf team wrapped up play at The Prestige with a seventh-place finish on Wednesday at PGA West's Norman Course. The Cardinals were led by junior Max Kennedy, who tied for ninth, and sophomore Sebastian Moss, who finished in a tie for 13th.
After 12 teams concluded their second round on Wednesday morning, the 24-team field began the third round with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. Drama would play out over the next six-plus hours, as the winds picked up and some of the world's top amateurs battled it out to the finish in the desert. The Cardinals closed the final round at 15-over-par and were 18-over-par over the three-day event. The Cardinals shot 289-282-299=870.
Kennedy posted his fourth top-10 finish on the year by shooting a 1-under-par 212, carding rounds of 71-70-69=212. Kennedy put together the round of the day for the Cards, playing a bogey-free round and registering a pair of birdies on No. 7 and No. 12.
Jiri Zuzka tied for 32nd overall by shooting a 7-over-par 220. The senior entered the day at 1-under-par but shot a final-day score of 79 to fall out of the top 20. Mads Roddick tied for 60th place after shooting 225 and Andrew Tan closed the tournament at 120th after firing a three-day total of 242.
The Cardinals are back in action on March 13-14 at the two-day General Hackler Invitational.
