Pole Vault Squad Headlines Day One of the Tiger Paw Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Louisville track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invite on Friday night, led by a series of standout performances in the women's pole vault.
Aliyah Welter nearly captured her fourth event victory of the season, finishing as the runner-up in the women's seeded pole vault with a mark of 4.15m (13-7.25). In the women's unseeded pole vault, Natalie Lark earned the gold medal, smashing her previous personal best with a clearance of 4.05m (13-3.5), while Auriane Viola cleared 3.85m (12-7.5) to take fourth place.
Sterling Warner-Savage also posted a strong showing in the men's 60m dash, blazing to a time of 6.59 to take third in a highly competitive field. The women's 60m dash also saw Taylor Herbert run a new personal-best of 7.35 in both the preliminary and semifinal rounds which is tied for the third-fastest in school history.
In the women's long jump, Synclair Savage rounded out the afternoon by claiming fourth place with a leap of 6.39m (20-11.75).
Competition will resume tomorrow morning with a series of four field events beginning at 10 a.m. with the event streaming on ACCNX.
