Cards Ready to Take On Florida State in First ACC Title Game Appearance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville will make its first appearance in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game when it takes on No. 4 Florida State on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.Â
The Cardinals advanced to the title game for the first time in program history with the 38-31 win over Miami on Nov. 18 to finish the conference schedule at 7-1 overall — tying the school's best league record since joining the conference in 2014.
Louisville and Florida State will meet for the 24th time in school history, with the 'Noles holding a 17-6 series advantage. FSU defeated the Cards 35-31 last season.
"We have a great opportunity tomorrow night to do something special for our fans and our university," said head coach Jeff Brohm. "We have to play a complete game for four quarters to defeat a team that is undefeated and has an opportunity to get to the playoffs."
Brohm finished his first regular season at 10-2 overall and 6-1 at home. He is the first coach to win 10 or more games in his first season at UofL and the first coach to take his team to a conference title game.
Brohm is also the first coach in NCAA history to take two different teams to conference title games in back-to-back seasons. He took Purdue to the Big Ten title game last season, falling to Michigan 42-22.
Louisville enters its first ACC title game after falling 38-31 to Kentucky at L&N Stadium to snaps its  11-game home winning streak. The Cards lost despite giving up 289 yards and Kentucky running only 47 total plays.
The Cardinals held a 24-14 lead late in the third quarter but the Wildcats tallied 17-straight points to take a 31-24 lead with 8:37 left in the game.
Quarterback Jack Plummer completed 24-of-33 passes for 242 yards and a pair of scores, while the Cards rushed for 161 yards in the loss. Â He finished the regular season with 2,952 yards and 21 touchdowns in 12 games as a starter.
After a 14-play, 70-yard drive to begin the quarter, Jawhar Jordan found the end-zone for a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Louisville has scored on its first possession nine times in 12 games this season, including eight touchdowns.
Louisville extends its streak of holding opponents scoreless on their first possession to 16 games.
Ashton Gillotte had his 11th sack of the season and 21st of his career to go with four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry. Gillotte moved up to a tie for seventh on Louisville's all-time season sacks list.
