
Men's Golf Adds Two to 2024 Signing Class

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf program and UofL head coach Ryan Blagg announced Wednesday the signing of Warren Thomis and Brady Smith to national letter of intents in the 2024 class.

"I couldn't be more excited for this year's signing class," Blagg said. "Brady and Warren have dominated junior and high school golf in Kentucky and continue to show why they are ranked so highly in the state and national rankings. Both of these guys have serious grit and know how to win. Today is a big day for our program."

 A native of Richmond, Ky., Thomis won the 44th Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur by carding four birdies on the back nine of the Big Blue Course at the University of Kentucky Club to win one of Kentucky Junior Golf's biggest events with a four-shot victory.

Including the Kentucky Amateur win, Thomis captured five other high school tournaments, as well as the 2022 AJGA Arnold Palmer Junior Invitational Championship.Â

Thomis guided his Madison Central High School squad to back-to back state titles. Individually, Thomis placed second in the 2021 and 2023 state championships and finished fourth in 2022. He finished his high school career with a solid was 69.98 average.

In the rankings, Thomis was rated third in the state of Kentucky and the 75th player in the country by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Smith, who attended Christian Academy in Louisville, finished as a back-to-back state individual champion. Smith closed his career by cruising to a second state title by tying the state's scoring record by shooting an 8-under-par 136 at  Bowling Green Country Club. He also won the 2022 Individual High School State Championship by shooting a 67-73=140.

A two-time Kentucky Junior Player of the Year in 2022-23, Smith is ranked as the 13th-best player and first in the state of Kentucky by Junior Golf Scoreboard.Â

Smith recorded four top-five finishes at American Junior Golf Association events and placed second at the Justin Thomas Championship in 2023.

A two-time United States Amateur participant, Smith posted a top-15 finish at the Junior PGA Championship at the Hot Springs Country Club.

In the American Junior Golf Association rankings, Smith is tabbed as the 20th-top player in the class of 2024. Golfweek also rated him 11th in the class of 2024.
