Cards Close Fall Season at the Williams Cup

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team faces one of its most difficult fields of the fall as the Cardinals close the fall campaign at the Williams Cup, which will be played Monday and Tuesday, October 9-10, at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.

Four of the top-20 teams in Golfweek's men's college rankings headline the 10-team field, which presents the biggest challenge for the Cardinals during their fall season.

The tournament, hosted by the University of North Carolina, honors former UNC men's basketball coach Roy Williams and his wife, Wanda, for their longtime support of student- athletes and college golf.

Host Carolina is ranked No. 1 in the country in the coaches' poll and No. 2 by Golfweek, has won the tournament the last two seasons.

This year's field includes Auburn (Golfweek's No. 1-ranked team), No. 6 Arizona State, No. 17 and defending NCAA champion Florida, Elon, Louisville, Missouri, NC State, UNCW and North Florida.

Play begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Sebastian Moss leads the Cardinals this fall, winning a pair of tournaments and finishing in a tie for ninth at the Notre Dame Invitational last week.
