Cards Add a Pair of Transfer Wide Receivers to the Squad

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville football program added a pair of transfer wide receivers with the signings of Kevin Coleman and Jamari Thrash, UofL head coach Jeff Brohm announced on Monday.
Coleman, a standout at Jackson State last season, caught 32 passes for 475 yards and three scores to earn SWAC Freshman of the Year honors. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound speedster closed his rookie season with a career high seven receptions for 137 yards and one score in the Celebration Bowl loss to North Carolina Central.
A four-star recruit, Coleman caught 179 passes for 3,968 yards and 56 touchdowns and rushed 37 times for 435 yards and six touchdowns during his high career at St. Mary's High School in St. Louis. As a defensive back, Coleman recorded 87 tackles and 14 interceptions, while averaging 26.9 yards on kickoff returns and 20.3 yards on punt returns with 16 return touchdowns.
As a senior, Coleman scored 29 touchdowns (21 receiving, three rushing, six returns) and totaled 1,993 all-purpose yards. In his final season, Coleman caught 37 passes for 985 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed 37 times for 435.
Thrash, who played four seasons at Georgia State, hauled in 61 receptions for 1,122 yards and seven touchdowns for Georgia State last year. During that season, Thrash, a 6-foot-0, 180-pounder, recorded four 100-yard receiving games, including a school single-season best 10 receptions for 213 yards and a score in a loss to Charlotte. Thrash closed his Georgia State career by recording 23 receptions for 467 yards and a pair of touchdowns over the final three games of the season.
He closed his career with the program with 104 catches for 1,752 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2020, Thrash was the team's leading receiver with 32 catches for 452 yards and three touchdowns. He recorded his first 100-yard game with four catches for 103 yards in win over Arkansas State.
A native of LaGrange, Ga., Thrash was an All-state receiver from Troup County Comprehensive High School. He earned first-team all-state honors in Class AAAA from both the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Georgia Sportswriters Association.
Both players are enrolling in classes for the spring semester and will be available for the start of spring practice.
