Men’s Track & Field Ranked No. 13 in USTFCCCA National Team Rankings
January 30, 2023 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's track and field team is ranked 13th in the second installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor Track and Field National Rating Index, coming in with a point total of 66.73.
The Cardinals move up five spots from last week's No. 18 ranking, marking the first time the Louisville men's squad has been ranked in the indoor poll for consecutive weeks since the 2008-09 season.
A trio of solid performances at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational last weekend boosted the Cardinals in the rankings, with Sterling Warner-Savage and Cameron Miller both setting school records in their respective events. Warner-Savage tied his own record in the 60m dash in a time of 6.55 that currently stands third nationally, while Miller surpassed the 200m dash record he set two weeks ago in a time of 20.52 that moves him up to third in the nation after coming in at ninth nationally last week.
Paul Kallenberg also made his mark in his season debut in the heptathlon, setting multiple personal bests on his way to a final point total of 5,616 that stands 18th nationally and puts him just outside a berth to the national championships.
Trey Allen still leads the country in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.27m (7-5.25) at the Commonwealth College Opener, while freshman Brion Stephens' mark of 2.20m (7-2.5) at the same event is now tied for sixth in the nation.
The Cardinals will head on the road for the first time this season, making the trip to South Bend, Ind. for Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Feb. 3-4.
