GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Louisville's Katie Schneider has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Julie Kouijzer earned Defensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Sept. 6.
Â
Schneider delivered three goals and dished out an assist to lead the ninth-ranked Cardinals to a pair of wins in the ACC/Ivy League Crossover. The graduate senior scored a pair of goals in Friday's 4-1 win over Penn. She keyed the offense against No. 13 Princeton on Sunday, giving the Cards a 1-0 lead and then dishing out an assist on the second goal to put Louisville 2-0 in the eventual 2-1 win over the Tigers. For the weekend, Schneider registered a team-best five shots, four of which were on target.
Â
After leading the Cardinals with nine goals last season, Schneider now paces the team with four goals in the early 2022 campaign. The San Diego native has tallied 23 career goals.
 Â
Kouijzer recorded an assist and notched a defensive save while keying a Louisville defensive unit which held opponents to a 1.00 goals against average and 12 shots on goal in a pair of wins in the ACC/Ivy League Crossover.
Â
The Amsterdam senior's assist and save came in the Cardinals' 4-1 win against Penn on Friday. She then helped limit No. 13 Princeton to four shots on goal in Louisville's 2-1 victory on Sunday.
The fifth-ranked Cardinals (4-0) will return to action this weekend when they open a five-game home stretch starting with Sept. 9 matchup against JMU and an ACC Network-televised contest against No. 2 Michigan on Sept. 11 at Trager Stadium. Admission is free to all home games.
