NOTE CARDS
• The Cardinals bring a 7-1 record into the weekend after a 5-0 win against Fairfield on Sunday.
• With the victory over No. 4 Michigan on Sept. 11, three of the Cardinals' wins have come against ranked opponents. Louisville also defeated then-No. 13 Princeton and No. 11 Penn State. Four of Louisville's eight games have been against ranked opponents with two of those ranked among the top five.
• The Cardinals have registered 18 goals this season with seven different players contributing to the total. Four players have registered multiple goals.
• Graduate transfer Sasha Elliott (7-1) carries a 1.00 goals against average and leads the ACC with an .843 save percentage.
• Junior Aimee Plumb was recently named to the NFHCA Collegiate Watch List as well as the 2022 Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey team in a vote by the league's seven head coaches. The Cardinals were picked to finish fifth in the regular season

HEAD COACH JUSTINE SOWRY
2021 ACC Coach of the Year Justine Sowry is in her 12th season at the helm. During her time at Louisville, she has guided the Cardinals to 160 wins, six NCAA tournament appearances reaching the quarterfinals twice and advancing to the semifinals for the first time in program history in the 2020-21 season. Under Sowry's tutelage, Louisville has tallied three conference titles, including back-to-back ACC regular season crowns (2020, 2021) as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in the ACC Championships.

Scouting the Hoosiers: Indiana brings a 6-3 overall record into Friday's Battle of the Border. In their most recent outing, IU defeated Longwood 2-0 on Sunday. Prior to that, the Hoosiers lost 5-1 to No. 5 Iowa in their Big Ten opener.
• Jemima Cookson leads the team in scoring with six goals and has tallied one assist for 13 points. Arabella Loveridge (6-3) carries a 2.39 goals against average with three shutouts on the season.Â

 CARDS FOURTH IN NFHCA COACHES POLL
UofL stands at No. 4 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings released on Sept. 20. This marks the second straight week at No. 4 for the Cardinals who started the 2022 campaign at No. 9 in the preseason poll.
• It also marks the third consecutive top-five ranking for the Cards who also spent nine weeks among the top five in 2021, including the final eight ranking periods of the regular season. They reached as high as No. 3 on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5.
• The Cards have been ranked among the top 10 for the last 34 ranking periods spanning back to the 2019 season when they appeared at No. 8 on Sept. 10.
• Louisville has now spent 99 consecutive weeks in the top 20 in the nation dating back to the 2013 season.
• In 2020-21 the Cardinals spent seven weeks in the top five after debuting at No. 2 – the highest ranking in program history – on March 16, 2021. After two weeks in that slot, UofL remained in the top five throughout the rest of the season, finishing the year at No. 5. The Cardinals also concluded the 2019 campaign at No. 5.

UP NEXT
Louisville will embark on a four-game road swing starting with a pair of contests in Virginia. The Cardinals will resume ACC play on Friday at No. 10 Virginia followed by a Sunday matchup at VCU.

Louisville went 1-1 last weekend, suffering its first loss of the season against No. 2 North Carolina in both teams' ACC opener and rebounding with a 5-0 win against Fairfield.

•Louisville goalkeeper Sasha Elliott registered a season-high nine saves as the Tar Heels outshot the Cardinals 14-9. In the game, the Cards held a 6-1 advantage in penalty corners, but were unable to capitalize as the Tar Heels held them without a goal for the first time this season.

• Mattie Tabor's first career hat trick keyed the fourth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team to a 5-0 win over Fairfield Sunday afternoon at Trager Stadium.
• In addition to Tabor's performance, Julie Kouijzer delivered a goal and an assist and Aimee Plumb added a goal as the Cardinals tallied a season high in scoring. Sasha Elliott recorded one save en route to her second shutout of the season.
