Plumb Selected to Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Louisville's Aimee Plumb has been named to the 2022 Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey team in a vote by the league's seven head coaches. The Cardinals were picked to finish fifth in the regular season as announced by the conference office Monday.
Plumb, a junior forward from Canterbury, Kent, England, was a 2021 NFHCA All-America third team honoree after tallying a career-high seven goals last season. The two-time NFHCA All-West Region honoree (2020, 2021) was also named to the 2021 All-ACC first team. She was tabbed ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2021 also earned NFHCA Division I National Offensive Player of the Week honors.
North Carolina, with five first-place votes and placed atop this year's ACC preseason poll with 47 total points. Syracuse picked up the remaining two first-place votes and placed second in overall balloting with 41 points, followed by Boston College (27) and Virginia (24).
Louisville, which placed first atop the 2021 ACC regular-season standings, placed sixth with 23 points, while Duke and Wake Forest tied for sixth with 17 points each.
The ACC is coming off a 2021 season in which four league teams earned bids to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship, marking the 27th consecutive year in which the ACC landed multiple teams in the postseason field. It marked the eighth time in the last nine seasons that at least four conference teams earned NCAA bids.
Six ACC teams finished last season ranked among the top 25 of the NFHCA rankings, and all seven conference teams were ranked at some point during the 2021 campaign.
The ACC leads all conferences with 21 NCAA field hockey titles. The conference has placed at least one team in the national championship game in 29 of the past 33 seasons, including three consecutive recent NCAA titles by North Carolina (2018-2020).

• Louisville returns 13 letterwinners and seven starters from last year's team including NFHCA All-America selections Julie Kouijzer and Aimee Plumb along with fellow All-ACC honoree Katie Schneider. The Cards also welcome 10 newcomers to the 2022 roster.
• UofL returns four of its top scorers from last year in Katie Schneider, Aimee Plumb, Julie Kouijzer and Mattie Tabor. Schneider led the team with nine goals, followed by Plumb (seven), Tabor (six) and Kouijzer (five). The four of them combined for 27 of Louisville's 47 goals last season.
• The Cardinals finished the 2021 season with a 16-4 overall record, matching a school record for wins while making the program's 10th NCAA tournament appearance. Additionally, Louisville won the ACC regular season title for the second straight year after compiling a program-best 6-0 record in league play. The Cards spent the 2021 entire season ranked among the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Top 10, reaching as high as No. 3 and finished the year at No. 6.
• Head coach Justine Sowry is entering her 12th season at the helm. The 2021 ACC Coach of the Year has guided the Cardinals to three conference titles, including the 2021 regular season championship and 2020 ACC fall regular season crown as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in the ACC tournament.
