Field Hockey Takes Part in Fall Sports Media Day
August 17, 2022 | Field Hockey
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville head field hockey coach Justine Sowry and seniors Julie Kouijzer and Mattie Tabor met with local media to preview the season Wednesday at UofL's annual Fall Sports Media Day.
Â
Following a preseason scrimmage at Miami (Ohio) on Friday, the field hockey team will play host to Bellarmine in another preseason tune-up on Sunday, August 21. The Cardinals will open the 2022 campaign on August 26 against Bucknell in a neutral site game at Penn State.
Â
"With the success that we've had the last few years, we've put ourselves in the position that we've been in we're excited to continue to build upon that in our quest to win a national championship," said Sowry. "Our program right now is entering a new chapter. We have 23 on our roster with 10 newcomers. This is the biggest class of first-year players since I've been here. It's definitely a new group. I have a good problem right now, because those first-year players are exceptional. It's a short preseason and I think every day is going to be a little different."
