
2022 Field Hockey Schedule Announced

University of Louisville field hockey coach Justine Sowry has announced the Cardinals 2022 schedule which includes eight regular season home contests. The upcoming slate also features 12 opponents finished the 2021 season among the top 25 in the final National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings while seven were NCAA tournament team including NCAA runner-up Liberty.

Before starting the regular season, the Cardinals will travel to Oxford, Ohio to face Mid-American Conference champion and NCAA tournament participant Miami (Ohio) in a preseason scrimmage on August 19. Fans can also catch preseason action at Trager Stadium when the Cardinals play host to Bellarmine on August 21.

A week later, Louisville will open the 2022 campaign with a four-game road trip starting with a pair of games in University Park, Pa. The Cards will play their season opener against Bucknell in a neutral site game followed by a contest against No. 4 Penn State.

Louisville will begin the month of September in Chapel Hill, N.C. where they will face Penn and No. 16 Princeton.

After two weekends on the road, the Cardinals will begin a five-game homestretch with games against No. 24 James Madison and No. 2 Michigan. No. 8 North Carolina will visit Trager Stadium for Louisville's ACC opener on Sept. 16 followed by a Sunday matchup against Northeast Conference Champion Fairfield. A week later, the Cards will welcome Indiana to Trager Stadium in the final game of the September homestand.

 The Cards will hit the road to take on No. 13 Virginia followed by a contest at VCU. The road stretch will continue the next weekend with trips to No. 22 Wake Forest and ninth-ranked Liberty. Midway through the month of October, Louisville will return to Trager Stadium to face ACC opponent Duke and Ball State. UofL will then embark on its final road trip of the regular season at No. 10 Syracuse and Cornell.

Louisville will conclude the regular season and celebrate senior day when Boston College visits Trager Stadium on October 28.

Duke will serve as the host for the 2022 ACC Field Hockey Championship which will take place November 1-4 in Durham, N.C.

The Cardinals finished the 2021 season with a 16-4 overall record, matching a school record for wins Additionally, Louisville won the 2021 ACC regular season title after compiling a program-best 6-0 record in league play. The Cards spent the 2021 entire season ranked among the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Top 10, reaching as high as No. 3 and finished the year at No. 6.
