LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's Carmyn Greenwood has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America third team as announced by the organization during its annual press conference at the Women's College World Series (WCWS). Â
Â
She becomes Louisville's ninth All-America selection and the first since 2013 when Katie Keller and Alicja Wolny earned second team honors.
Greenwood is one of 54 student-athletes from 34 different institutions voted to one of three 2022 NFCA Division I All-America teams. The list also includes nine from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The graduate senior outfielder from Birmingham, Ala., led the Cardinals with a .400 batting average and paced the ACC with seven triples while standing second in the league with 70 hits and a 1.279 on base + slugging percentage. She also ranked third in the conference with 54 runs and stood fourth with a career-best 52 RBIs. Additionally, Greenwood finished the season with a career-high 14 home runs, including two grand slams. Louisville's leadoff hitter tallied a team-high 18 doubles and 23 multi-hit games while producing 14 multi-RBI games. She delivered five assists from left field on the season and was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on May 2.
The two-time all-ACC and NFCA All-Southeast Region selection finished her career at Louisville with a school-record .408 career batting average in the last three years after transferring from Auburn prior to the 2020 season. She ranks second on the program's all-time list with a .657 career slugging percentage and is fourth with a .453 on base percentage. Greenwood also stands among Louisville's top five leaders in single season batting average, hits, runs, home runs and total bases.
Â
"I am so proud of Carmyn for finishing her outstanding career at Louisville as an All American," said UofL head coach Holly Aprile. "Carmyn was a great player for us all season long; so consistent, so professional; from her plate approach, to her film study, to her work ethic. She showed up every day locked-in, and all of those efforts paid off for her to earn this honor. She was the catalyst for her own success and that ownership made all of the difference."
